Joanne Baker Jewellery
I have been involved in the arts all my life. I came to jewellery via a career as a Painter, University (Art) Lecturer and a child and adult Art Therapist.
Working in Edinburgh, Scotland, I use eco-silver, resin, semi-precious stones and Scottish Tweed in my jewellery and I really like nothing better than working at my jewellery bench or helping to release creativity in others.
I work on a freelance basis with schools, museums, councils, galleries, environmental, heritage and community groups. Workshops have included silver jewellery, textile and eco jewellery, bookbinding, felt making, printmaking, drawing/painting and therapeutic art groups. Do get in touch to discuss your requirements.
URBAN SHOCK JEWELLERY
My colorful ‘Urban Shock’ resin range developed from watching the building site outside my Edinburgh flat and fuse urban motifs such as houses and cranes. Intrigued by the surprisingly feminine truck colors and home building in stark contrast to the muddy grey, all-male builders' environment, I translated these into cast resin and oxidised silver, with embedded nails in some pieces. I’d describe mixing resin colors as a bit like painting or even cooking – except after the resin has set hours of sanding and polishing by hand follows!
To enquire about any pieces just email or phone me. It is free to have a piece delivered in UK.
I also welcome enquiries from Gallery Curators and Workshop Organisers.
